Parasites to Watch Out For in Summers

Isn't summer THE BEST? This is the time of the year when you go out, wear your best clothes, arrange cookout parties in warm afternoons. While you are having a great time, your cat is about to experience a miserable time since it will be exposed to summer driven diseases. These diseases will be accompanied by unpleasant parasites as they multiply in warm temperatures. This is awful for your cat's health and in a way for your health too. Here are a few things you should know before time so that you and your little furball can have a great summer:

Giardia! It's Dangerous

It is a one-celled parasite just like tapeworm which can be caught from the damn ground or leftover of other animals. The symptoms mostly consist of vomiting and disturbed stomach. It is dangerous for your cat, especially in the summer heat. It is a little hard to assess whether your cat has the disease or not. You will have to send a sample of the stool of the vet for an examination. It does not just go away with time. Your cat will need rounds of medications to get rid of it.

Fleas Do Tease

Fleas have a rapid growth especially in the extreme temperatures whether they are winters or summers. They have the tendency to survive in the harshest temperature. Fleas are nothing but chaos creators. They will require cleaning otherwise, it will keep on increasing the health issues. They are small insects which bite to cause irritation. This irritation makes your cat scratch and licks more. Scratching causes injuries and licking causes ingestion of fleas which later turn into tapeworms.

If you see fleas, immediately talk to your vet. There are a number of Vets Available Online who can help you sort out the issue. More so, a number of products which include sprays and shampoos to kill fleas. However, you have to use the one recommended by the vet. Sometimes fleas and tapeworms can attack at the same time. A good vet will want you to get rid of fleas first since they cause tapeworms to develop.

Don't Let Heartworm Mature

Heartworms are very dangerous and are likely to be caught in summers especially Cats in Pakistan. Why? Because larvae enter the blood with a mosquito bite. This is the reason why it is something which should be divided into summers. There are a number of heartworm preventives available which can stop the larvae from maturing. More so, do your best to prevent any contact from the mosquito. Make sure that your place is mosquito-free.
