Fruits and Vegetables for Dogs

Dog, you four-legged family member, is an omnivore like you. This means that you can feed him with vegetables and fruits too. Yes, you want to spoil them by  feeding scraps from the table but make sure to include vegetables and fruits in these scraps since they have all the necessary nutrients. Though, there is a range of dog food available in the market and online portal AgentPet.com sometimes natural food has to be incorporated for maximum benefits. Here is a few vegetables and fruits  which you can give to your dog:

Apples- They might be the best snack for your dog since they are a good source of Vitamins A & C and fiber for your dog. They are very good for adult and senior dogs as they have low quantities of fat and protein which means that your senior dog who is now a bit lazy cannot gain weight. Freeze them and feed them in warm weather as a spring snack.

Bananas- Bananas are a treat for dogs. They are low in calories which makes them a super treat for adult dogs. They also have copper, potassium, vitamins, and biotin which are all very important for the growth of healthy bones. They are high in sugar content and therefore should be given as treat only. It is a big no for a regular diet.

Blueberries- It is a fruit which is full of antioxidants. This is beneficial for human beings and canines too since they prevent cell damage. Next time you are teaching your dog to catch food in the air, throw blueberries instead of biscuits.

Peas- Peas are a source of vitamins, minerals, proteins, and fiber. Make sure to feed them fresh peas since canned peas contain preservatives which can disturb your dog's digestive system.

Pineapple- It can be given as an appetizer because of its bromelain which helps in digestion of food.  It is more like a sweet treat for your dog. Just give them few chunks after peeling off.

Spinach- Greens are beneficial for humans and dogs too. One of the best greens which shouldn't be ignored is spinach. However, it should not be given in excess.

Watermelon- Watermelons are a great way to keep your dog hydrated. You very active buddies sometimes forget about drinking water while playing. This fruit treat will help you maintain your dog's water intake since it is 70% of water.

Keep it in mind that most of these foods can be fed as treat only. You have to give them meat in the form of kibble too. Do consult a good Vet for Dogs before giving them fruits and vegetables.
